Group Metro is one of the Semifinalist team in the first inter battalion armer unit Aainball trophy. The "Armed Units AAINBALL Trophy, 2024" concluded successfully on the evening of October 18, 2024, at SRPF Group-2 in Ahmedabad. This exciting event was organized by the Gujarat Police in collaboration with the AAINBALL Federation and saw approximately 200 athletes from 16 different battalions competing. Inauguration The tournament was inaugurated on October 15, 2024, at 10:00 AM by DIG Vishal Waghela and the Founder and CEO of AAINBALL, Mr. Pratap Singh. The opening ceremony set an enthusiastic tone, fostering competitive spirit among the teams. Tournament Structure The 16 participating battalions were divided into four pools, with each team playing three league matches to qualify for the quarter-finals. The top two teams from each pool that advanced to the quarter-finals included: Vadodara (G-1) Muleti (G-6) Nadiad (G-7) Gondal (G-8) Mehsana (G-15) Kutch (G-16) Metro Group Ahmedabad (G-2) In the quarter-finals, Mehsana topped the table followed by Metro, with Ahmedabad and Muleti also qualifying for the semi-finals. In a thrilling semi-final, Metro initially dominated the first half, but Mehsana mounted a remarkable comeback in the second half to secure victory. In the other semi-final, Ahmedabad triumphed over Muleti. The grand final was attended by distinguished guests including DG Raju Bhargava and district SPs. In a closely contested match, Mehsana emerged victorious, defeating the home team Ahmedabad by 12 points, with a final score of 569 for Mehsana and 557 for Ahmedabad. Thus, the inaugural Armed Units AAINBALL Trophy was awarded to ONGC Mehsana Group 15, captained by Cadet Harisingh Vala. Purpose and Significance The AAINBALL Trophy represents an ongoing commitment to promoting fitness and well-being through AAINBALL, a sport that continues to gain popularity across the nation. AAINBALL is more than just a sport; it fosters both physical and mental wellness, providing an inclusive platform for participation amongst security forces without direct contact. This makes it an effective method of assessing the fitness levels of security personnel. Chief Guest DG Raju Bhargava remarked that as the nation prepares for the 2036 Olympics, AAINBALL is pivotal in fostering positive behavioral changes at the grassroots level, enhancing community engagement and fitness. Host SP Manjita Vanjara emphasized the significance of the presence of senior officers at the event, believing it would motivate all athletes. She expressed gratitude for the opportunity to showcase the enthusiasm and sportsmanship of the participating teams.
